Align, in its quest to make the 3GX the best it can be, has now made available Version 3.1. The defaults are the same as Version 3.0, so unless you have changed something in the Flight Condition Menu, there’s no need to do anything beyond the basic DIR setup and most of that should be fine. Check the direction of all controls and gyros..go fly.

You can find the default settings on your C drive in the My_setting folder. The file name is my_setting_V3.1_1175.txt. Your previous settings will be there too.

Bear in mind that this version is sort of a beta version. All their top pilots are testing it and when it gets their blessing, it will show up on their regular update page.

Several people have tried the update with results ranging from no change to an outstanding improvement in the tail rotor gyro. You can read the reviews on Helifreak here.

Recently, Align announced a new main gear hub for the earlier 600 electric and nitro models. They also released a new auto-rotation gear and a new auto sleeve. This new hub is a much better design and results in a significantly smoother auto-gear. However, the old auto-rotation gear isn’t compatible with the new hub, nor is the new auto-rotation gear compatible with the old hub. The old auto-rotation gear and the old hub have been discontinued, so…

If you need a new auto-rotation gear you will need to purchase a new hub.
If you need a new hub, you will need to purchase a new auto-rotation gear.

Another thing to be aware of is that the front tail drive gears for the older models are not compatible with the new “Pro” gears. The new “Pro” models, like the 600EFL Pro, use a different auto-rotation gear and front tail drive gear. It looks like you might be able to use the new gears in the older models, but you would need to buy both gears since the auto-rotation gear is a slightly smaller diameter and the front tail drive gear is a slightly larger diameter and both have a different gear pitch. Changing to the new gears will slow your tail down. The gear ratio of the new gears is 3.85:1. The old gears were 4.25:1. That knocks a thousand rpm off your t/r speed.

Century is making gas conversions for both the Trex 600 and Trex 700 helicopters. The kits are very complete. Take a look at the 600 kit and the 700 kit.

The new 700 3GX has begun shipping. They are trickling in now, but we have quite a few pre-orders for this model. I would suspect that it will be September before they are in good supply everywhere.

The big change is the new 3GX flybarless controller.
