No Funfly this year.

I have to cancel the funfly this year. I’ve thought long and hard about this, but I decided we just can’t do it this year. Wayne and Ellen, who always were a huge help behind the scenes had to bow out this year. We’re short handed and I just don’t have the manpower to pull it off. I’m sorry.

Facts that may help you find the parts you need

As I find things, I will post them here.

The 550 V2 FBL comes with the H70020B spiral cut main gear and a
Spiral cut pinion gear.
The H50118 Paddles shown on Align’s site in the 550 category will not work on the 550. Use H60143 instead.
The H60077A Metal Tail Pitch Assembly comes with the new t/r slide bushing, H60238. The length of the bushing is shorter than the old one and the diameter is bigger.
If you are using the HN6102QF or similar elevator control, the control shaft number is HN6127. Some kits came with the old control shaft. The old shaft will work, but it won’t help you center the elevator bellcrank. A bushing is provided to get the right spacing. The slot on the old shaft isn’t centered. Ignore it.
The H60221 Carbon Tail Rotor Control Rod that comes with the 600EFL Pro also works on the Nitro 600 V2 for sure and probably on all 600N models.

New Align Main Gear Hubs – What You Need to Know

Recently, Align announced a new main gear hub for the earlier 600 electric and nitro models. They also released a new auto-rotation gear and a new auto sleeve. This new hub is a much better design and results in a significantly smoother auto-gear. However, the old auto-rotation gear isn’t compatible with the new hub, nor is the new auto-rotation gear compatible with the old hub. The old auto-rotation gear and the old hub have been discontinued, so…

If you need a new auto-rotation gear you will need to purchase a new hub.
If you need a new hub, you will need to purchase a new auto-rotation gear.

Another thing to be aware of is that the front tail drive gears for the older models are not compatible with the new “Pro” gears. The new “Pro” models, like the 600EFL Pro, use a different auto-rotation gear and front tail drive gear. It looks like you might be able to use the new gears in the older models, but you would need to buy both gears since the auto-rotation gear is a slightly smaller diameter and the front tail drive gear is a slightly larger diameter and both have a different gear pitch. Changing to the new gears will slow your tail down. The gear ratio of the new gears is 3.85:1. The old gears were 4.25:1. That knocks a thousand rpm off your t/r speed.

The Miniature Aircraft Whiplash Nitro Flybarless 90 size kits are getting closer. You don’t have to be Einstein to figure that out. I’m not going to predict another date, but a few production kits were shipped to reps about 10 days ago. As soon as their feedback is analyzed and any changes made, the kits will start shipping. So far things look good.

I know you guys are anxious to get your thumbs on this kit and rest assured, Miniature Aircraft is going as fast as they can to get it ready. Now you know as much as I do.

Nathan has taken a job outside of the hobby business. I can’t blame him. I think I might be the only guy around here that plans to work until I die. He will have great benefits and a good retirement plan. With three kids in school, it was now or never.

I will handle the web orders and phone sales along with everyone else. Please give the person who answers the phone a chance to help. If they don’t know something, I’ll be here to help. When it comes to part numbers, everyone here knows their stuff.
