If you are using the PDF version of a Part Finder like you should be, in order to keep from opening a ton of new windows or tabs, be sure to set your browser options so links from external programs open in the current tab or window. Here’s a picture of the setting in Internet Explorer 8. Other browsers might look slightly different. Open these boxes by clicking on the Tools menu in your browser.
While you are in your browser option window, make sure you have cookies enabled. Click on the Privacy tab and make sure the setting is no higher than Medium High. This still allows you to control who stores cookies on your computer. It is the default setting. You shouldn’t have to worry about it unless someone has changed the setting.
Also clear your Auto Complete cache.
Firefox users: if you want to set the browser so links open in the same tab, do this.
- Open Firefox
- In the URL box, type: about:config
- There is no warranty, so just click the I promise box.
- In the filter box type: browser.link
- Double click on the Value next to browser.link.open_newwindow
- Change the value to zero
- Close the browser and restart Firefox.
