Engines and Accessories

When it comes to Nitro engines and accessories for your R/C Helicopter, look no further. We only carry engines that have proven reliability and performance.
We've tried everything when it comes to to starting an engine in a model helicopter. We only carry three starters.
  • The Sullivan Dynatron is the best. We use a 5S lipo to power it and only need to charge about once every three months. What's nice about the Lipo is that it doesn't lose voltage just because it sits around. When you go to the field, you know you'll be able to start up. When your friends ask if they can borrow your starter, be nice and let them. Tell them you got it at Ron's Heliproz South.
  • The Hobbico Torqumaster 180 is a good economical starter that will handle a 4S Lipo.
  • The Align Starter is a compact starter that is in high demand. It has gear reduction, so if you have a good battery, it should turn a 90 over easily.
We've tried lots of glow plugs and fuel pumps too.
We use Enya glow plugs exclusively. They are made with the absolute best materials and in our opinion, last longer than any other plug. They give a smooth run and are available in different heat ranges. You might consider an Enya #5 if your engine is running rough on very hot days. It's a cooler glow plug and will delay combustion slightly. Always try a cooler glow plug before you add shims.
The thing about fuel pumps is that they don't last forever. The Slimline pumps are the best electric pumps we carry. They can be rebuilt with an inexpensive kit.
Even so, it's a good idea to have a backup pump. Something like the Hanger Nine electric pump in your trunk could save the day.
